Sunday was an ordinary day for most grocery shoppers, and Juwone Scott Jr. was working his shift at Brookshire's at Uptown as usual. Little did he know, however, that he would be coined a hero by the victim of a purse snatching that day. Crystal
Clay of Shreveport was approached by a man who snatched her purse in the parking lot after work on Sunday. Scott, an employee at Brookshire's and a Special Olympic runner, was there to come to the rescue.
Scott is quoted saying, "I had to chase him down because I told myself that doesn't feel right." He chased the purse snatcher using his Olympic speed and was able to return Clay's belongings, for which she says she is so grateful.
"...I want you to meet Juwone," says Clay. "This young man chased the thief down and took some punches and got my purse back y’all!! Juwone is a real hero! I’m so very blessed by this awesome guy and so is the community! Let’s make him famous! If you go to Brookshire’s on Line and see Juwone please shake his hand or even give him a huge hug!!"
He is known within the community as a wonderful employee and an even better man. With a heart of gold, Juwone often talks with the customers, prays for and with them, and makes sure they're always having a great day. His compassion and spirit for Brookshire's customers and our community is unparalleled, and we are so appreciative of everything he does. We are proud to have people like him within the Uptown community and family!
Remember, not all heroes wear capes, and Juwone Scott Jr. is a beautiful example of that.
